Background
The American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China) is a non-partisan, non-profit business organization, certified in 1995 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. AmCham South China represents more than 1,650 American and International companies doing business in South China.
Mission Statement
The mission of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China is to promote the development of trade, commerce and investment between the United States and the People¡¯s Republic of China with a special focus on South China; to provide a forum in which member businesses can identify their common interests and discuss solutions for common problems; to work with and advocate member interests with relevant organizations in South China, elsewhere in China and the United States, and to set the standards for corporate social responsibility for the community that the Chamber serves.
Objectives
♦ To promote the development of trade, commerce, and investment between the United States and the People¡¯s Republic of China, ♦ To provide a forum in which American businesses in China can identify and discuss common interests regarding their commercial interests in China, ♦ To work with organizations in China on matters of mutual interest, ♦ To maintain relations with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other Chambers of Commerce or commercial organizations elsewhere, and ♦ To do all other lawful things as may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of the foregoing objectives.
Leadership
The Chamber is governed by an 11 member Board of Governors consisting of 2 appointed positions, 4 elected officers, and 5 elected governors. AmCham South China is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Asia Pacific Association of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC), and the informal All-China AmCham Group.
What we are doing?
Networking We create forums for you to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with other AmCham members and the greater business community in South China by bringing together dynamic groups for cocktail parties, investment delegations, committee meetings, banquets and more, across the region. We create value for you by striving to provide as many of these opportunities to AmCham members completely free of charge.
Information We offer a variety of topical publications on doing business in South China, including our annual membership directory and Special Report on the State of Business in South China, our monthly magazine, the South China Business Journal, policy information pamphlets, issue guides and survey results.
Advocacy Through engaging in dialogue with our more than 1,650 members, we formulate policy objectives that represent the immediate interests of the Chamber as a whole, and then pursue them at the local, regional and national levels in the United States and the People¡¯s Republic of China¡ªand in doing so, strive to build a productive and positive business atmosphere for member companies throughout South China.
